Official canon

Gray is a member of the magicians guild, Fairy Tail in the world of Fiore. He is an ice alcemy mage and uses magic called "ice make." Gray is capable of creating anything static or unchanging out of ice. Typically he uses freeze, ice hammer, ice lance, and geyser. He's even capable of making ice fireworks since ice magic's form is only limited by it's caster's imagination. Besides magic, Gray is pretty good at regular fistfights as well. He'll easily take a lot of damage and still be able to get back up continue fighting. His stubborn like that. Gray is a typically hot headed, rather reckless guy who loves to fight with just about anyone, especially Natsu. He hates being called weak and will immediately take you on if you do so. The only person in the guild who can get him to calm down and behave is Erza. Like most of the members of Fairy Tail, Gray will do anything to protect his nakama (guild members/family). He also follows the ideas of the guild that you follow what you believe is right, even if it goes against authority regulations. Gray isn't the type of guy to simply back down from anything that he believes in.

Gray does have one major quirk: he strips. Without really knowing it, Gray will randomly take his clothing off and go wandering around in his underwear. (This is his contribution to Fairy Tail's somewhat bad name.) Usually he doesn't even notice that he's once again removed his clothing until someone points it out, then he can't even remember when he took it off. For the most part Gray doesn't strip past his underwear, but it has gone a bit farther at times. The reason for his rather bad habit is his earlier training with Ur, his magic teacher.

When Gray's family, and the entire town he lived in, was killed by Deliora (a demon), Ur found him and took him in. She started training him to be an ice mage. The first step of this process was being able to stand the cold so that you could work with it. Of course, this led to standing out in the ice and snow in nothing but your underwear. As a result, Gray started doing it all the time. (Even at the guild, years later, he's known for his lack of clothing.) Gray's goal with his training was to defeat Deliora himself and take revenge for his parents. When Deliora's location was determined once more, Gray went after the demon despite his teacher's warnings that he wasn't ready. As a result, Ur showed up to save him. However, she couldn't defeat Deliora without using her most powerful magic, iced shell. Iced shell changes the users body into a unmeltable ice and imprisons the opponent, taking the users life.

Canon Relationships

Natsu: Gray's rival in Fairy Tail. He's a Flame Dragon Slayer. Natsu and Gray don't get along... at all. He's part of "Fairy Tail's Strongest Team."

Erza: A fellow Fairy Tail member. She keeps Natsu and Gray in check (and not fighting). Gray's a little bit scared of her. She's part of "Fairy Tail's Strongest Team."

Lucy: A fellow Fairy Tail member. Gray invades her house all the time. She's part of "Fairy Tail's Strongest Team."

Jubia: A new member of Fairy Tail. She joined because she feel in love with Gray.

Ur: Gray's magic teacher. Ur took him in when Gray's family was killed. Ur is dead (partially thanks to Gray).

Leon: Gray's fellow student under Ur. Leon blames Gray for Ur's death.

Head canon (stuff I made up)

Not much is being added or lost from Gray. Due to Moksa's magic, Gray will get tired more easily when using magic. It probably won't be incredibly noticable though.

Game canon (stuff that has happened in the game)

Gray arrives at Moksa with a bang. He was in the middle of a fight with Natsu when he suddenly disappeared from the battle. However, the battle continued the moment Gray arrived at Moksa even though he didn't realize that Natsu was no longer there. He meets Fuji and Mikuru right away.

Gray runs into Linali training Atem... so of course, he needs to get invovled too. Gray and Atem fight, with Gray blowing him away in hand to hand. Atem brings out his Ka and Gray resorts to attacking Atem directly instead of aiming for the magician. It works... and poor Atem goes home rather bruised.

The circus comes to town and Gray decides that their fire manipulator Goh would be a good opponent...

Gray puts on a pillow fight.

The lovebug virus strikes Gray and Mai... of course they've never met before either.

Gray shows Kazuki around and they have a good time ice sledding. Right after the sledding Kazuki decides to move in with Gray... which requires massing cleaning on Gray's part. Mikuru decides to treat them to tea after.

Gray finds Mikuru without her soul and goes after Dartz. They end up in a big fight, but in the end Dartz wins and Gray loses his soul as well.

Gray and Mikuru get locked in a walk in freezer after he invites her to get ice cream with him. Poor Mikuru almost freezes in Gray's arms. Kazuki finally releases them. Gray stays with Mikuru as she warms up, but things get comical as he falls into the bath tub with her.

Gray puts on a "Never Have I Ever" game in Frau's room. He had to drink A LOT and ends up getting rather drunk by the end of the game.

Mikuru invites Gray to his first cherry blossom viewing. The two have a good time eating lunch together, but the situation gets a bit embarrassing when Mikuru tries to get petals out of Gray's hair. Gray ends up with a nice view and then Mikuru falls and lands with her face in his lap...

The random object disappearance virus strikes and poor Gray gets hit hard. He ran into Mikuru wearing only his underwear (not that he reailzed it) when all of a sudden his underwear disappeared... right off his body. You can imagine what happened next yes?

Gray attended Atem's sword fighting lesson. He and Linali paired up to practice but they abandoned their swords right away. The result was a full magic battle.

Gray goes to rescue Mikuru after she faints during the taste change virus. He ends up giving her their first kiss... on the forehead.

Gray takes tennis lessons with Eiji and Fuji.

Mikuru sends Gray a love letter but forgets to sign it. This causes major chaos as Gray keeps quiet about his "secret admirer" and Mikuru panics about him not responding. They finally solve the problem when they run into each other in the cafeteria. They are now officially boyfriend and girlfriend. Mikuru also gets her first real kiss.

Gray rescues Mikuru when he finds her passed out on the ground near Atem. Mikuru thought Atem was Yuugi until his hat fell off. She passed out in shock.

Gray and Mikuru go on an actual date. She buys him rubber ducky swim trunks. He ends up losing them in the water when a wave rips them off... hilarity all around.

Gray gets turned into a kangaroo during Frau and Kaito's prank.

Gray loses his sense of taste during the senseless virus but doesn't really realize it.

Gray ends up paired with Risa for the handcuff event. Obviously it goes over oh so well when she wakes up on top of him. However, Risa finds it utterly adorable that Gray is so concerned about Mikuru and threatened the guy paired with her.

Gray and Mikuru dress up as a pair, Alice and the White Rabbit.

Gray isn't so pleased with the fact that he's diagnosed with OCD during the physical.

Atem asks Gray to train him a little bit... which obviously winds up rather amusing.

Gray and Goku get into a major ice fight at the cafeteria. Hakkai breaks them up and dislocates Gray's arm thanks to the truth virus. It winds up alright in the end.

Mikuru and Gray go swimming and meet up with Linali and Tsuzuki. The four of them wind up playing chicken fight in the water.

Gray and Mikuru have a chance to talk during the truth virus about home and how they won't see each other after they leave. Gray misunderstands Mikuru and thinks she's talking about how they should have sex... he's really bothered by it. It winds up into a rather comical event of "what did you mean?"
