How to Use the Wiki

USING THE WIKI

Editing the Wiki is a fairly straightforward affair. To get editing access, you first have to be accepted into the game, and a Mod will add your e-mail address to the list of Wiki users. Then you log in using that address.

For those of you who have already created a page, simply click on the "Edit Page" button and away you go.  Editing is simple - simply type in what you want to add and use the Rich Text editing buttons across the top - just like OpenOffice or Word or LiveJournal's Rich Text entry editor.

For those of you who have not yet created a page, follow these steps:

1a. User links will be set up in the Taken Characters page that don't lead anywhere yet. Click on them, and the Wiki will prompt you to create a new page for that link.

1b. Alternatively, you can click the "Create A Page" link that's found on the top right-hand side of every Wiki page.

2. Once you click on that link, you'll be brought to a page that says "Create new page."  Click the more options tab, and under "Page Content" will be the options "blank page" and "use a template".

3. Select "use a template", and you'll get a drop-down list of precreated templates that you fill in or edit as required. Unfortunately, the list currently contains a bunch of PBWiki-issued business templates that we can't get rid of yet. The only templates you need to worry about are the Character Page Template and the Player Contact Template.

3b. You can also assign your page to either the users or characters folder, to make them easier to find.

4. Once you're finished creating your page, link it in the Player Contacts page so that everyone else can find it. If you need to know how to create a link, check here.

Comments can also be left on any Wiki page so long as you're logged in.

NOTE: There are a few cases when trying to create a URL link in a Wiki page will not work and will even erase your most recent changes. This is due to a coding glitch in PBWiki's editor. If the URL link doesn't work, go back into the page and edit the link to REMOVE the "http://" part. It should then work. And always remember to Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C your Wiki changes before you hit save.

Overall, the editing interface is fairly straightforward, but if you have any questions at all, feel free to contact any of the mods or other players, or take a look at PBWiki's help page.
